My wife Vicki and I had the benefit of Alan Pye guiding us through the process of buying a plot of land and building our new home.
From our initial consultation with Alan, through to post-sign over customer care, we couldn’t have asked for a better service.
The project was not without its dramas, as the local council queried resource consent and for a while it looked as if the build couldn’t go ahead. Alan did his best to keep us calm and because he knew how much my wife had set her heart on having that house design built in that specific location, Alan wouldn’t compromise and ensured that the consent went through after ironing out the technical issues that would have been beyond us to resolve.
It may be part of the usual process of the planning application, but for us it was our first time as new home builders, so his expertise and calmness were vital, but more importantly Alan gave us confidence that he genuinely wanted to give us the result we wanted.
When the build commenced, we were welcomed on site and encouraged to make adjustments or query our initial decisions as the house took shape. We were never made to feel as if a change we suggested was an inconvenience, rather Alan made us feel an essential part of the process in order to ensure than the final home was exactly what we wanted.
Along the way Alan’s input, as we were choosing the various colour options, carpets, tiles etc, was never “pushy” but based on his experience of what went well together, and the end result was a home that flows well from space to space, but which feels cohesive and well styled. We love it!
At the handover we held a small celebration for some of the tradies and local suppliers. It was clear that Alan had fostered good relationships with them, and had recruited people who cared about the quality of the finish. He had assembled a great team who shared his professionalism.
After handover, the QA process had been so thorough, and the standard of work so good, that we didn’t have a single issue to raise with Alan – our “snagging list” was empty!
Alan gave us confidence that he wanted to deliver a dream home for us, rather than sell us a house. We made a good choice, and can’t see how any other house building company out there could do better – because for us this was the perfect experience.
